Coastal Dredging Company To Dredge Tampa Harbor

Coastal Dredging Company of Hammond, Louisiana was awarded a $3.6 million contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District to conduct maintenance dredging in Tampa Harbor.

The company will use hydraulic dredge Cledus to removed approximately 200,000 cubic yards of shoaled material from two channels, the Alafia River channel and turning basin and the Manatee Harbor entrance channel and turning basin. The channels will be dredged to 32 feet and 40 feet respectively. Dredged material from the Alafia will be placed in a disposal area in Tampa Bay, while material from the Manatee Harbor will be deposited in an upland disposal area.

Work began in December and should be completed in May 2018.
