Second Hemispheric Seminar on Maritime and Port Legislation to Be in Montevideo, Uruguay

The Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS) has announced the II Hemispheric Seminar on Maritime and Port Legislation: Key Elements for the Modernization of Legislation to be held April 11 to 13 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The seminar will provide an international platform for public-private dialogue on trends and challenges in port and maritime industry legal frameworks, with the aim of promoting the development of a competitive, secure, sustainable, and inclusive sector.

Organized by the National Port Administration of Uruguay (ANP) and the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP-OAS), the event will focus on the key aspects of port legislation modernization, with special emphasis on adequate regulation for efficiency, security, and environmental sustainability. Decision-makers from public and private entities will present successful practices on the following topics: Modern Legislation for Efficient Port Management; Automation in Ports- Modernization of Legal Frameworks; Regulatory Policies in Risk Management; and Environmental Legislation for Sustainability.

In addition, during Port Dialogue Roundtables, National Port Authority representatives and industry experts will offer a series of recommendations for tackling the legal and regulatory challenges of the region’s port and maritime industry.
