Three Rivers Building Drydock, Machine Shop

Three Rivers Boat & Barge, Ledbetter, Ky., announced that it is in the process of building a new 1,800-ton drydock for barge repair at its 38-acre shipyard located at Ohio River Mile 929.2.

The 12-year-old shipyard—owned by David Ray, who also owns Three Rivers Machine & Fab Inc., a full-service machine shop—expects to have the drydock fully operational in early July. The new drydock will complement the shipyard’s 2,400- and 3,000-ton drydocks that are currently in operation.

Additionally, Ray said the company is constructing a new machine shop on site. Its current machine shop is located elsewhere but having one at the shipyard near the river will increase productivity, according to Ray, who added that the company is busy constructing deck barges.

Three Rivers is a multi-faceted vessel construction, repair and drydocking complex, which also offers repowering and gear replacement services.
