Port of Corpus Christi to Hold Open House for Ship Channel Dredging

The Port of Corpus Christi Authority is holding an open house to discuss the study undertaken on the feasibility of deepening the Corpus Christi Ship Channel from the Gulf of Mexico through Harbor Island to La Quinta Junction. The area would be dredged to between -75 to -85 feet to accommodate Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) and put the port in a better position for long-term acceptance of all commodities. The open house will be informal with no presentations but rather an opportunity for the public to ask questions and get responses from the authority.

Two sessions will be held. The first on September 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Port Aransas Community Center in Port Aransas and the second on September 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Solomon P. Ortiz Center in Corpus Christi.
