DSC’s Wetta Wins Wendt Commitment Award

William J. “Bill” Wetta, senior vice president of product development and chief technology officer of DSC Dredge, LLC was awarded the Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award during National Stone Sand and Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) annual convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

NSSGA established the Wendt award more than two decades ago to recognize individuals who exhibit the dedication and commitment to the industry that Barry Wendt did. The Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award is the highest and most distinguished individual award the association presents.

“I understand what it means to be on this list,” Wetta said. “This is the only job and only industry I’ve worked at. I’ve been doing this almost 40 years.”

In his leadership role at DSC Dredge, Wetta serves as project manager of all company engineering and construction. A registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University.

Wetta designs hydraulic systems, details dredge production, project requirements, as well as power transmission design and construction. He provides structural engineering of barge and dredge design for DSC’s engineering department.

Wetta serves on the executive and membership board for National Sand, Stone & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Manufacturers and Services Division. His memberships include the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, Louisiana Engineering Society, Society of Automotive Engineers and Western Dredging Association (WEDA).  Wetta is also actively involved in many civic and charitable organizations including the Bayou Steel/Evonik Reserve Community Advisory Panel (BE CAP).
