Keppel Delivers Another ULE Dredge to Jan De Nul

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) has delivered the 6,000 cubic meter (7,848 cubic yard) trailing suction hopper dredge Sanderus to Jan De Nul Group. The ultra-low emission vessel (ULEv) is the fourth dredge that Keppel O&M has delivered to Jan De Nul Group.

This follows the delivery of three 3,500 cubic meter (4,578 cubic yard) trailing suction hopper dredges earlier this year, all ultra-low emission vessels (ULEvs) and the first European Union (EU) Stage V dredges. Keppel O&M is also building Ortelius, a dredge which is identical to the Sanderus, for Jan De Nul Group, with delivery expected in the first quarter of 2020.

Sanderus is fitted with a two-stage filtering technique for exhaust gases. It complies with the EU Stage V and International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Tier III regulations. Sanderus will immediately sail to Belgium for maintenance dredging work on the river Scheldt and alongside the coast.

Built to the requirements of classification society, Bureau Veritas, Sanderus is diesel-electric driven and is able to dredge to a maximum depth of 35 meter (115 feet). Featuring a shallow draft and high maneuverability, it is also suitable for working in confined areas.
