Laborde To Distribute Scania Marine Engines

Scania USA announced October 6 that it has selected Laborde Products as the new distributor for Scania marine engines in the Gulf Coast and Midwest markets.

For more than 20 years, Laborde Products has been dedicated to developing commercial engine brands throughout the United States, including a commitment to the service and support of the engines and products. This has propelled Laborde’s growth and expansion to new opportunities, including this partnership with Scania USA. Beginning November 1, Laborde will provide Scania engines to its current and future marine operators.

“Laborde Products seeks to represent Scania and our operators with the best engines, service and support in the market,” said Brian Laborde, president of Laborde Products.

Scania Marine provides a range of engines for both propulsion and auxiliary applications including 9-,13- and 16-liter engines. This range is capable of propelling high-speed patrol craft or hauling people and supplies offshore on crewboats, and everything in between. Scania marine engines offer a range of horsepower of between 220 and 1,150, with engine speeds ranging from 1,600 to 2,300 rpm., meeting the United States EPA Tier 2 and Tier 3 requirements. Scania engines are designed to have a superior power-to-weight ratio, with easy serviceability and maximum efficiency.

The Laborde Products team will offer Scania sales and service in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Texas, West Virginia and Tennessee, and the southern portions of Illinois, Ohio and Indiana.

Founded in 1891, Scania operates in more than 100 countries and employs some 51,000 people. Research and development are concentrated in Sweden, with branches in Brazil and India. Production takes place in Europe, Latin America and Asia, with regional production centers in Africa, Asia and Eurasia.
