GNOBFA Cancels April Seminar

The board of governors of the Greater New Orleans Barge Fleeting Association (GNOBFA) has announced the organization has canceled its 2021 River & Marine Industry Seminar, which had been scheduled for April 19–23 in New Orleans.

“As we continue to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, including those guidelines that have been established by local, state and federal authorities, as well as travel restrictions imposed by attendee(s)’ employers, GNOBFA’s board of governors has determined that it would be impossible to proceed with the seminar as scheduled without undue risk to the health and safety of our committee members, attendees and speakers,” the association’s board of directors and seminar executive committee said in a statement.

The organization will continue to monitor the progression of the pandemic and could consider holding an event later in the year, though no decision has been made.

“Your support of the GNBOFA Seminar is of great appreciation, and [we] will certainly investigate every option available to hold a safe seminar,” association leaders said. “Additional notices will be posted on the GNOBFA website should anything of significance develop.”
