Langenstein Named Port NOLA Board Chairman

During the March 25 meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans, board members elected William Langenstein as chairman. Other officers elected during the meeting include Charles Ponstein as vice chairman and Jack Jensen as secretary-treasurer.

Langenstein, who was appointed to the board in February 2018, succeeds Darryl Berger, whose term as board chairman expired earlier in March.

Since the Port of New Orleans acquired the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad in February 2018, the commissioners of the port also serve on the railroad’s commission. Railroad commission officers include Langenstein, chairman; Ponstein, vice chairman; and Berger, secretary-treasurer.

“Thank you to Commissioner Berger for his service and leadership on this board,” Langenstein said. “He held this position with the utmost poise and leadership, particularly during these challenging times of the pandemic. I am honored to begin my service as chairman, and I look forward to continuing to work with my fellow commissioners, port leadership and our partners to secure the critical infrastructure and opportunities necessary to keep Louisiana and the Port NOLA gateway competitive well into the future.”
