Gron Fuels Plans GIWW Renewable Fuels Plant

The New Orleans Engineer District has notified the public of a permit application by Gron Fuels LLC seeking authorization to construct and maintain a renewable fuels manufacturing facility on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) in Port Allen, La.

The character of the work also includes construction of a renewable feedstock pretreatment unit, a hydrogen plant, a hydro processing unit, tank farms, loading and unloading facilities, a substation, a retention pond, wastewater treatment facility, supporting utilities and an administration building.

In addition, the application seeks authorization for installation of a 2.5-mile pipeline corridor, three wells to be drilled into the Mississippi Alluvial Aquifer and construction of a marine terminal on the GIWW. About 115,000 cubic yards of material would be dredged from the canal and placed on site. The project would have an estimated impact on about 2.48 acres of wetlands and 8.67 acres of navigable waters, according to the public notice.
