Turn Services Files Permit Application For Barge Fleet Expansion

Turn Services, a New Orleans-based provider of barge towing and fleeting services, has filed a permit application with the New Orleans Engineer District to expand the company’s barge fleet in St. Charles Parish near Mile 124 on the west bank of the Mississippi River at the company’s Bayou Fleet.

The scope of the work, according to the public notice filed December 27, 2022, involves installing three new barge mooring monopolies, which would extend the fleet a further two tiers upstream by eight barges wide “to accommodate growing demand in the immediate vicinity.”

The comment period for the application closed January 26.

According to the company’s website, Bayou Fleet offers a 250-barge capacity and more than 8,000 linear feet of fleeting space. Turn Services offers fleeting and shifting, top-side repairs, dry cargo and tank barge cleaning, barge-to-barge transfers, launch and crane service, potable water, garbage disposal and shuttle and standby services at Bayou Fleet.
