Emerging Technologies and Inland Waterway Ports

Survey Questionnaire

Purpose:

You are being asked to participate in a survey research study about the prospects for adoption of emerging technologies at inland waterway ports in the United States.

Principal Investigator:

This survey is conducted by Dr. Christopher Smith of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Research Procedures:

This study involves the use of an online survey administered to individual participants via the Waterways Journal website. Participants will be asked to respond to a series of questions soliciting their opinions about the prospects for adoption of emerging technologies at inland waterway ports in the United States.

Time Required:

Participation in this study will require up to 10 minutes of your time.

Benefits & Incentives:

Participation in this study does not provide direct benefits, but may provide indirect benefit or advantage through knowledge of the survey content. However, as an incentive to participate in this study, participants will be entered into a drawing for 8 $100 Amazon gift cards.

Confidentiality:

Individual survey responses gathered through the survey instrument will be handled in strict confidentiality. Survey data will be anonymized and no personally identifiable information will be included in the public release of overall survey results nor in any publications based on the survey results.

Alternative Procedures:

Individuals interested in participating in the survey in a non-online format may do so by submitting a request to the Principal Investigator.

This project and this consent form have been reviewed and approved (Protocol Number 24-0051) by the Institutional Review Board of the University of Southern Mississippi, which ensures that research projects involving human subjects follow federal regulations.
