Pine Bluff Awarded Neptune Pass Contract
The New Orleans Engineer District recently awarded Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Company, White Hall, Ark., a $19,473,663 firm-fixed-price contract for stone placement to reduce the flow being diverted from the Mississippi River through Neptune Pass.
Work is being performed in Buras, La., with an estimated completion date of August 21. Fiscal Year 2025 civil operation and maintenance funds in the total amount were obligated at the time of the award.
Safety measures are in place from Mile 23 to Mile 24 Above Head of Passes between May 5 and October 5. All vessels are required to transit at their slowest safe speed and to avoid overtaking or meeting within 1,000 feet of the work barges. Ostrica Anchorage is closed for the project’s duration.
Restrictions are in place 24/7, but work will take place during daylight hours. During working hours, the anchor spread will be extended at a maximum of 600 feet from the left descending bank.
