For eight years, 40 of the industry’s future leaders have been honored at the Inland Marine Expo with the “40 Under 40” award, which recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the inland marine transportation industry in a variety of fields. All 40 honorees were nominated by executives and peers for their hard work and dedication to the industry.
Over the course of 10 weeks, The Waterways Journal is featuring this year’s recipients. This week we recognize Andrew Luttrell, Bradley Matte, Conley McCutcheon and Charles Parker.
Andrew Luttrell
Andrew Luttrell, 38, is the director of agriculture and dry bulk sales for Ingram Barge Company, Nashville, Tenn.
Luttrell’s maritime career began at Ingram Barge Company as a customer support specialist in 2011. From there, he moved to the logistics department before transitioning to the commercial side of the business in 2014.
“Luttrell deserves to be recognized for this award because he is honorable, empowered, accountable and driven as an Ingram associate,” said Matt Tomayko, Ingram Barge Company’s vice president of dry cargo sales. “All four of these attributes reflect ‘the Ingram Way,’ and they perfectly describe Andrew.”
As part of directing agriculture sales, Luttrell assists in marketing the business’s covered hopper fleet into grain, oilseed and fertilizer markets.
“Andrew has never met a stranger in the industry and has a great outgoing personality,” Tomayko said. “Customers like dealing with Andrew because he always has a positive attitude. He is a great associate at Ingram and is always representing Ingram Barge company in a positive light at industry events or customer meetings.”
“I’m grateful and honored to have been nominated and selected for this award and owe it to my colleagues who are always challenging and encouraging myself and others to show up every day and do my best,” Luttrell said.
Bradley Matte
Bradley Matte, 35, is the Gulf Coast territory manager for Laborde Products in Covington, La.
Matte specializes in marine propulsion and power generation engines and has become a leader in this market for his customers. He works with marine companies on the Gulf Coast to find financially successful power solutions that help them achieve their goals. As a second-generation salesman in the marine industry, Matte has blazed his own trail and built a name for himself without simply following in his family’s footsteps.
“Bradley is trusted by those he works with and those he works for every day,” Laborde Products President Brian Laborde said. “He has established himself as a trusted source of information for the marine market and is truly deserving of this recognition.”
Conley Mccutcheon
Conley Mccutcheon, 35, is the shipyard yard maintenance supervisor for Industry Terminal & Salvage Company (ITS) in Industry, Pa.
Mccutcheon started his maritime career in 2008 at Campbell Transportation Company and moved to Industry Terminal & Salvage Company as a laborer in 2016. From there, he moved to the position of deckhand. He was later promoted to the maintenance team.
“We nominated [Mccutcheon] because of his willingness over his career to listen and learn his trade and his ability to excel, becoming a valuable asset to our company,” said Donald Checkan, vice president of operations at ITS.
Charles Parker
Charles Parker, 39, is the co-owner and co-operator of marine surveyor Alpha Marine Services LLC, based in Hernando, Miss.
Parker has been serving the industry as a commercial diver and marine surveyor for nearly 20 years. In 2018, he established Alpha Marine Services with co-owner/operator Brock Stewart after 12 years working side by side.
“Charles (Chadd) is the hardest working, most thorough and all around best marine surveyor that I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” Stewart said. “He deserves this recognition as much as anyone.”
