Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply Expands To Wood River, Ill.
Vicksburg, Miss.-based Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply (EMIS) has launched a new location in Wood River, Ill., at Upper Mississippi River Mile 198, about 20 miles below the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi rivers and 18 miles above St. Louis. Wood River is EMIS’s third service location, with the other two in Vicksburg and Memphis, Tenn.
“The new site extends our offering into the Upper Mississippi, giving vessels greater choice on where to fuel, restock supplies and offload waste,” the company stated in a press release.
At the new location, EMIS will offer fuel and oil supply, drop shipping, delivery of groceries and the removal of slop and oil. Chris Maxwell, vice president of marine operations for EMIS, said the company’s expansion to the Upper Mississippi followed extensive discussions with industry stakeholders.
“We continuously meet with industry partners to learn about our customers’ pain points and support them with the solutions they need,” Maxwell said. “Through this, we have learned there is a desire for our service in other locations, including Wood River. We are excited to bring our customer-focused service and fair market pricing to the Wood River area.”
With the expansion, EMIS is recruiting for the Wood River location. Open positions are listed on the company’s website. EMIS is part of Ergon, a group of privately held companies that operate in three primary business segments that include energy and specialty solutions, pavement and coating resources and integrated services and logistics. In addition to EMIS, other waterway-connected companies under the integrated services and logistics segment include Magnolia Marine Transport and Ergonomic Terminaling Inc.
