AEU Announces Annual List Of Safety Award Winners

The American Equity Underwriters Inc. (AEU), the leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance for waterfront employers, announced the winners of the 2025 AEU Safety Awards on April 20.

AEU, the program administrator for American Longshore Mutual Association (ALMA), a group self-insurance fund providing USL&H coverage under the United States Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, presents the awards each year to the best-performing ALMA members nationwide.

“A commitment to safety goes beyond improving a company’s operations,” said Adele Hapworth, CEO of AEU. “It also reflects a commitment to employees, their families and their community.”

Eligibility for the awards is based on the frequency and severity of workers’ compensation incidents for the prior calendar year, as well as safety-related metrics determined by AEU’s loss control team.

“This recognition is earned through consistency,” said Jason Lake, AEU senior vice president and director of loss control. “These companies have built safety programs that protect their people, strengthen their operations and set a standard that others in the industry can learn from.”
