Inland Waterways Conference Slated For Nola

The 2018 Inland Waterways Conference will be held at the Hyatt Hotel in New Orleans’ French Quarter March 19–21.

Sponsored by Maritime Meetings, the conference will feature speakers from the Corps of Engineers, Coast Guard, and the commercial towing and passenger vessel industries, among others.

As in previous years, the first day of the conference will be devoted to an afternoon-long session focusing on licensing issues. The session will be led by Capt. Greg Mencke, compliance manager for Evansville Marine Service and Capt. Kristen Martin, commanding officer of the Coast Guard’s National Maritime Center.

Other speakers scheduled during the conference will include Rear Adm. Paul Thomas, commander of the Eighth Coast Guard District; Maj. Gen. Richard Kaiser, commander of the Mississippi Valley Engineer Division; Norm Antrainer of Florida Marine Transporters; Gus Gaspardo, owner of the Padelford Packet Company and president of the Passenger Vessel Association; Stephen Barnes, director of the Economics and Policy Research Group at Louisiana State University; Brandy Christian, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans; and many others.
