2018 National Coastal Conference Issues Call for Abstracts

A call for abstracts has been issued for the 2018 National Coastal Conference hosted by the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) and the Coastal Zone Foundation. The event will take place October 30 to November 2 at the Galveston Island Convention Center on Galveston Island, Texas.

The theme of this year’s conference, “Resilient Shorelines for Rising Tides,” aims to attract those who manage beaches and coastal areas to share their successes and challenges in upkeep, profitability, and community engagement. Along with these professionals, the conference is also seeking presenters from the scientific, engineering and restoration community to cover a broad range of coastal and estuarine ecology, science, engineering, economics and policy topics. Suggested content for presentations includes: projects; living shorelines; coastal studies; lessons learned from hurricanes; coastal and estuarine landscape, modeling and resiliency; coastal hazard mapping; beach restoration; sediment management and more.

The National Coastal Conference brings together coastal stakeholders and managers to promote best management practices and learn the latest science, engineering and policy initiatives for maintaining and improving the health of beach-front and estuarine shorelines and ecosystems.

Presentations may be PowerPoint or poster format. Submit abstracts hereChosen abstracts will be announced June 25.
