Jefferson County Port Authority Gets New Office

For the first time, the Jefferson County (Mo.) Port Authority has an office near the Mississippi River. In July, the port authority purchased the 2,000-square-foot building with a view of the river just behind its parking lot.

Executive Director Neal Breitweiser said the new office, which will house additional staff and his office, places the port in a strategic location near the river and rail. “There is also potential for the port to establish an additional port in Crystal City,” he said. The port authority’s current office is located in nearby Hillsboro, Mo.

The building is undergoing $20,000 in renovations to create office spaces and to remove an existing wall between a conference room and library. Once completed, the space will operate as a larger conference room for the port’s board of commissioners and community stakeholders to meet.
