Ryba Marine Contracted to Dredge Lake St. Clair

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District has awarded a $813,650 contract to Ryba Marine Construction Company of Cheboygan, Michigan, to dredge channels in Lake St. Clair. Beginning next summer, Ryba will dredge approximately 53,000 cubic yards of sand, silt and organic material from the channel. The material will be placed at the Dickinson Island Confined Disposal Facility. The project is expected to be completed in September 2019. The work will widen the channel to 800 feet, and deepen it to 27.5 feet along 14.5 miles. The Channels in Lake St. Clair are a section of the Great Lakes Connecting Channels that run from the mouth of the St. Clair River to the head of the Detroit River.
