Missouri River Navigators Meeting Set For Kansas City February 13

The 2019 meeting of the Missouri River Navigators will again be held in Kansas City, Mo., at the National Weather Service Training Center on February 13.

The meeting is scheduled to include reports by the Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard on the 2018 navigation year and projections for the 2019 navigation year. Special topics of interest to those using and navigating on the Missouri River will also be discussed.

Companies providing updates on the 2018 navigation season include Howard/Cooper Port Authority, Missouri River Towing, River Marine Enterprises, AGRIServices of Brunswick, Central Plains Cement, St. Joseph Port Authority, Port KC, Archer Daniels Midland, NORAG and Central MO AGRIServices.

Additional sessions include updates from the Missouri River Basin Forecast Center (National Weather Service) on current climate conditions, Corps’ water management and water release forecasts, Kansas City and Omaha Engineer districts’ river structure maintenance, Coast Guard Subchapter M safety regulations, Coast Guard’s bridge branch update, and the Corps’ 408 decision process and an overview on the Corps’ study of the lower Missouri River.

A panel of speakers from the Department of Agriculture, Missouri Department of Economic Development, Informa Economics and others will discuss the market needs, challenges and opportunities for Missouri River navigators.
