Meeting on Dredged Material Management in Winona, MN Rescheduled

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is rescheduling a public meeting on Mississippi River dredged material in Winona, Minnesota. The meeting will be held February 21, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson St., Winona, Minnesota.

The meeting was originally scheduled for January 31, but was cancelled due to severe weather.

The focus of the evening will be on commercial navigation trends, channel maintenance and dredged material management planning, as well as a brief discussion regarding the real estate process.

The Corps is revising its dredged material management plan for Mississippi River Pool 6, which encompasses Winona. The final plan will identify temporary and permanent placement locations for  dredged material. Similar plans are being prepared in Pools 4 and 5. The plans, once complete, provide the path forward to continue maintaining the 9-foot navigation channel for the next 20 years, and possibly longer. An environmental assessment will be prepared as a part of each plan.
