Volvo Penta CEO To Chair NMMA Committee

Ron Huibers, president and CEO of Volvo Penta of the Americas and a board member of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), has been named chairman of the organization’s Engine Manufacturer’s Division (EMD) and appointed to its executive committee.

The nation’s leading trade association representing boat, marine engine and accessory manufacturers, the NMMA serves as a unifying voice for the recreational boat industry, working to strengthen and grow boating. Its member companies produce more than 80 percent of the boats, engines, trailers, accessories and gear used by boaters and anglers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

“It’s an honor to be selected to chair the EMD board and serve on the executive committee, and I look forward to joining my industry colleagues in expanding on the association’s good work,” said Huibers. “The NMMA’s mission of advocating and promoting the boating lifestyle aligns with Volvo Penta’s Easy Boating initiative, which aims to attract new families into the boating experience by removing perceived barriers and simplifying operation and maintenance of the boat.”

Volvo Penta, with approximately 3,500 dealers in over 130 countries, is a global manufacturer of engines and complete power systems for boats, vessels and industrial applications. The engine program comprises diesel and gasoline engines with power outputs of between 10 and 1,000 hp. Volvo Penta is part of the Volvo Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses and construction equipment.
