WJ Acquires Publisher Of Great Lakes Shipping Titles

The Waterways Journal’s parent company, The Waterways Journal Inc., dba Bound Media Group, has acquired the media assets of Harbor House Publishers, Boyne City, Mich.

Harbor House, established in 1969, publishes the quarterly magazine Great Lakes/Seaway Review, the annual Greenwood’s Guide to Great Lakes Shipping and the annual international Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System Directory.  It also produces custom content and media for a select number of chambers of commerce, convention and visitors’ bureaus and economic development organizations.

Harbor House Publishers will continue to operate from its offices in Boyne City, Mich.

“We have had many opportunities over the years to become part of something larger, but we’ve found the perfect fit,” said Michelle Cortright, second-generation publisher of Great Lakes/Seaway Review and founder of Harbor House Publishers Inc. 

New hire Leslie Tunney will manage the new custom publishing division.  With an extensive background in city and regional publishing, Leslie Tunney has been appointed vice president and publisher of custom media. Previously, she was president of Tunney Media Solutions and publisher of St. Louis Magazine, a monthly lifestyle publication. Tunney specializes in bringing together the various aspects of publishing—advertising, branding, marketing, management and new product development.
