Locking Suspended At John T. Myers Auxiliary Chamber

Locking has been suspended in the 600-foot auxiliary chamber at John T. Myers Locks and Dam (Ohio River Mile 846) in Mount Vernon, Ind.

The chamber was closed to navigation traffic beginning at 6 a.m. May 9 and will continue through 6 p.m. May 20. All traffic will pass through the 1,200-foot main chamber as a result.

The closure is to allow for floating plant mooring in the approach during replacement of bulkhead crane cables, according to the Louisville Engineer District.

The district said all mariners should take direction form the lock operators at John T. Myers Locks and Dam.

Pleasure craft should contact the lockmaster via marine radio on channel 13 or call 812-838-5836 to be placed in the queue for lock.
