Caterpillar Signs MOU With Strategic Marine

Caterpillar Marine announced recently that it has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Singapore-headquartered Strategic Marine (S) Pte Ltd. Strategic Marine is internationally renowned for producing quality, high-performance ships for commercial, defense and security use across the globe.

“Our collaboration with Strategic Marine brings together immense expertise that allows Caterpillar Marine to innovate and support the ongoing energy transition,” said Brad Johnson, vice president and general manager of Caterpillar Marine. “This is an exciting challenge to tackle, but most importantly it fosters our industry’s goal to reach lower-carbon operations. With our shared vision and Caterpillar’s innovative technologies, we look forward to working with Strategic Marine to advance the future for the maritime industry.”

Strategic Marine is a shipbuilding company with an international book of business crafts high-performance commercial and governmental marine crafts.

As an aluminum shipbuilder, the company has delivered more than 600 vessels worldwide for maritime, offshore energy industry, tourism and naval defense applications. Strategic Marine originated as Geraldton Boat Builders Pty Ltd. in 1984 in the Western Australian port of Geraldton, with a focus on constructing high-performance offshore fishing boats.

Strategic Marine’s drive and focus toward lower-emission propulsion across their product range, from Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) for the offshore wind industry to Fast Crew Boats (FCBs) for the offshore oil and gas industry and other classes of vessels is part of its ambition of delivering sustainable solutions to the industry.
