Maritime Innovation Website Goes Live
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MarAd) recently announced that the newly launched U.S. Center for Maritime Innovation’s website is now live. The URL for the site is www.uscmi.org.
The goal for the Center for Maritime Innovation and its “secretariat,” the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), is to promote the study, research, development, assessment and deployment of emerging marine technologies and practices related to the maritime transportation system. The center will be an integral part of engaging the maritime industry, academia, government agencies and other stakeholders in setting and executing multi-year research priorities to drive innovation and support the Trump administration’s “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance” agenda, as described in the president’s April 9 executive order.
The website includes a news page for relevant announcements, a research page for active and solicited studies and a tab for working groups. The U.S. Center for Maritime Innovation currently is assembling a group of technical working groups. More information on the working groups is available at www.uscmi.org/contact.
