Obituary: Tommy Lee Simmons

Tommy Lee Simmons, 85, of Smithland, Ky., died September 7 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

Simmons, a towboat pilot, worked 54 years in the maritime industry. He was also a member of Salt & Light Community Church in Paducah.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Simmons, two children, Sheri Ryan (Wayne Jr.) and Larry Simmons, a sister, Karen Sledd, two grandchildren, one great grandchild and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deward and Ada B. Simmons, a brother, Gaylon Simmons, and a sister, Bonnie Parrish.

A memorial was held September 12 in Paducah.
