On The Move: Nathaniel Hough

Foss Maritime Company, whose history in the Pacific Northwest goes back to 1889, announced it has appointed Nathaniel Hough as its new president.

“With an accomplished background of maritime transportation, Nathan brings the kind of steady leadership that moves teams forward,” the company said in an online post.

Hough earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marine transportation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston. His 14-year career with Kirby included stints as port captain and operations manager in both the Gulf Coast and Hawaii. Hough served as president of the Texas Waterways Association from 2024 to 2025. He was also a management board member of the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee.

Hough worked for Campbell Transportation for four and a half years. While there, he advanced from director of vessel operations in Pittsburgh to general manager and vice president of the Gulf Coast division.
