Primrose Oil Company Expands Inland Marine Presence
With more than a century of service, Primrose Oil Company is well known to many customers throughout the United States, but the company is looking to expand its presence in the inland marine market with recent additions.
Kyle Farmer has joined the company as a dedicated marine salesperson. While the company has served marine vessels that support off-shore drilling and rig maintenance since the 1990s, Farmer’s hiring means an increased focus on the marine side of the business, including in the inland market, said Matthew Moore, Primrose Oil’s technical director.
After discussions within the company, Primrose is offering personalized lubricant and fuel additive recommendations to vessel owners and operators and fleets across the United States, including those on the inland waterways, Moore said. To make its recommendations, Primrose needs the year, make, model and capacities of the equipment.
Moore and Cara Mullen, the company’s sales manager, pointed out that Primrose’s products are engineered to help engines and equipment run more efficiently, adding that, in many cases, they pay for themselves through measurable performance gains, including improved fuel economy.
“These products help with fuel efficiency gains, drain interval extensions, extend the life of equipment and motors, lower maintenance costs and downtime and bring reliable equipment to business operations,” Moore said.
Of particular interest to the inland market, Moore highlighted environmentally friendly hydraulic fluids, hydraulic oil, greases and gear oils, including its Enviroblend brand. Enviroblend products are readily biodegradable, meet the 2018 Vessel General Permit (VGP) and are designated Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL).
Many of the specific products are designed not to “pound out,” to be waterproof and not to leave a sheen on the water, according to information Moore provided. Some are specifically designed for environmentally sensitive areas, including for inland marine vessels.
Primrose’s diesel fuel additives include Power Klenz ID No. 5007 and Power Blend No. 2003 for cleaning and maintaining fuel injectors, providing fuel stability and increasing fuel efficiency, he said. Additionally, Moore said a hydraulic oil supplement called Seal-Saver No. 532T is designed to significantly lengthen the life of hydraulic fluid.
