Maritime Partners Launches Mv. Lulu Hamilton
Maritime Partners announced that it has added the mv. Lulu Hamilton to its fleet as a newly constructed pushboat designed by Entech Designs, LLC and built by FMT Shipyard & Repair in Harvey, La.
The 67.5- by 29-foot towboat is powered by two Mitsubishi S6R2-Y3 Tier 3 diesel engines supplied by Laborde Products, each rated at 803 hp. at 1,400 rpm, for a total of 1,606 hp. The engines turn two 74- by 58.9-inch Hung Shen Marine Edge CF-3 stainless steel propellers through Twin Disc MGX-5321DC marine reverse/reduction gears with 5.46:1 ratios. Sewart Supply furnished the gears. The vessel has an open-wheel configuration with no Kort nozzles.
The two ABS-grade propeller shafts are 19 feet, 7 inches long and 7 inches in diameter. They are fitted with TG100 size No. 4 Thordon RiverTough tailshaft bearings supplied by Thordon Bearings Inc. Eagle Controls and Hydraulics supplied the 1,600 hp. dual-pump steering system. Engine cooling is provided by Fernstrum grid coolers supplied by R.W. Fernstrum & Company. Christie & Grey Inc. installed resilient engine mounts for sound and vibration isolation.
Electrical power is supplied by two 65 kw. generator sets furnished by Laborde Products. The vessel carries 8,065 gallons of fuel, 5,500 gallons of potable water, 442 gallons of lubricating oil and 442 gallons of gear oil. The water capacity is divided among two 850-gallon tanks and one 3,800-gallon tank.
The pilothouse has an eye level of 29 feet, 10 inches. The vessel has four double-bunk crew quarters and two full bathrooms. Ahead Sanitation Systems supplied an AT-6T marine sanitation device for wastewater treatment. A Hitachi multi-split heat-pump and air-conditioning system supplied by Lemoine Marine provides climate control. Schuyler Maritime LLC supplied 12-inch laminated tire-rubber fendering.
National Marine Carpentry installed the deckhouse flooring, wall panels, ceilings and galley equipment. The interior features simulated wood and tile flooring, white fiberglass-reinforced plastic panels and ceilings on the main and 01 decks, and black FRP panels in the pilothouse. Galley equipment includes a four-burner Frigidaire electric range and hood, an Element refrigerator/freezer, an Element reach-in freezer, a trash compactor and an ice maker.
The vessel carries a full complement of firefighting equipment. Hempel coatings, supplied by Coating Systems and Supply, were applied by Coating Services Inc.
Built for inland service, the Lulu Hamilton “reflects Maritime Partners’ continued focus on dependable vessels designed around proven equipment platforms,” according to the company. By maintaining consistency across propulsion and onboard power systems, the company says it can deliver vessels that are familiar to operators and positioned for long-term service.

Having a consistent platform across propulsion and onboard power helps support that approach.”
Laborde Products supplied both the main engines and generator sets and worked alongside Maritime Partners and FMT Shipyard & Repair throughout the project. The propulsion and auxiliary power package was selected to align with the vessel’s operating profile while supporting consistency across the fleet.
