Mississippi River Commission To Hold Inspection Trip

The Mississippi River Commission will conducts its annual low-water inspection trip on the mv. Mississippi August 17 to 21.

Hearings will be held on board the vessel 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. August 17 at the riverfront in Caruthersville, Mo.; 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. August 18 at Mud Island River Park landing in Memphis, Tenn.; 2 to 5:30 p.m. August 19 at the Vicksburg, Miss., riverfront; and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. August 21 at the Port of Morgan City in Morgan City, La.

All hearings are open to the public. Each stop will include a report on regional and national issues affecting Corps of Engineers programs and projects along the river. Community members are encouraged to speak.

Information gathered during the trip helps to inform the commission’s recommendations on navigation, flood risk management, ecosystem restoration and other water resources initiatives that support economic vitality and the environmental health of the Mississippi River valley.
