Mississippi River Commission Sets Hearings

The Mississippi River Commission (MRC) will hold four public meetings in August aboard the Corps of Engineers’ flagship towboat, the mv. Mississippi.

Each meeting will include a summary report by the president of the commission on national and regional issues affecting the Corps of Engineers and commission programs and projects on the Mississippi River and tributaries; an overview from the local Corps district commander on current project issues in the area; and presentations and comments to the commission by local organizations and members of the public regarding Corps or commission programs or projects.

The schedule of meetings is as follows:

August 19—Caruthersville, Mo., city front

August 20—Helena, Ark., Helena Harbor boat ramp;

August 21—Vicksburg, Miss., city front; and

August 23—Baton Rouge, La., city dock.

All meetings will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude by 12:30 p.m.
