Master Boat Builders Delivers Barbara G To Bay-Houston Towing

Master Boat Builders Inc., Coden, Ala., has delivered Barbara G (H501), the first of two Rapport 3000 escort tugs being built for Bay-Houston Towing. The tug will be operated by G&H Towing and will support ship-assist and escort operations along the Texas Gulf Coast.

“The delivery of Barbara G demonstrates our team’s commitment to quality craftsmanship, execution and meeting our customers’ needs,” said Garrett Rice, president of Master Boat Builders. “We are proud to continue advancing this important vessel program for Bay-Houston Towing and remain on schedule to deliver the remaining vessels in the series.”

The 98-foot tug has a molded beam of 43 feet and produces more than 90 metric tons of bollard pull. It is powered by twin engines producing a combined 7,000 hp. and has a top speed of approximately 13 knots.

Barbara G accommodates a crew of six and carries 44,342 gallons of fuel oil. The vessel measures less than 300 gross registered tons and is designed for escort, harbor and towing operations.

The delivery is the first of two vessels in Master Boat Builders’ Rapport 3000 escort tug program for Bay-Houston Towing.
