St. Paul Engineer District Welcomes New Commander
The St. Paul Engineer District welcomed new commanding officer Col. Matthew Chase July 18 in a change of command ceremony at the Union Depot, St. Paul, Minn. Chase succeeds Col. Eric Swenson as commander.
Chase is responsible for most of Minnesota, west Wisconsin, northeast North Dakota, northeast South Dakota and northeast Iowa. More than 750 professionals work at more than 40 sites in the district.
Chase previously served as the executive officer to the director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. He has more than 23 years of experience as a Corps officer.
Among his previous roles, Chase served as battalion commander of the 70th Brigade Engineer Battalion “Kodiaks” in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and strategic planner to the commanding general of the Corps in Washington D.C.
