Master Boat Builders Inc., a maritime construction company based in Coden, Ala., recently announced the launch of the mv. Saturn. The new build is the first of four escort tugs the company will build for Suderman & Young Towing Company, Houston, Texas, as part of its new H500 series. The second two vessels, currently known as H501 and H503, are currently under construction.
“The Saturn is a testament to what’s possible when expert shipbuilding meets forward-thinking design,” said Garret Rice, president of Master Boat Builders. “We’re proud to deliver this first vessel to Suderman & Young and look forward to completing the remaining three in the series.”
The new vessel, able to accommodate six crew members, measures 98 feet long with a 43-foot beam. It is a twin-screw tug with a combined horsepower of 7,000 and the ability to travel at nearly 13 knots. The Saturn registers at 300 GRT and can carry 44,342 gallons of fuel.
