waterways system.

The new vessel is sporting engines supplied by Laborde Products Inc. The twin Mitsubishi Tier 3 S6R2-Y3 engines are rated at 803 hp. and 1,400 rpm.

“With a project like this, reliable suppliers are critical,” said Billy Hidalgo Jr., executive vice president and chief operating officer at Halimar Shipyard. “Laborde Products consistently delivers, communicates clearly and helps keep the build on schedule. That level of dependability makes a real difference.”

According to Laborde, choosing the type of engine was one of the earliest decisions made in the boat’s construction to ensure the vessel would align with the customer’s needs and meet operational and regulatory requirements.

“S6R2 is one of the most common packages we see on the waterways,” said Bradley Matte, sales representative at Laborde Products. “It’s simple, well understood, and it gives operators a dependable setup they can run with confidence.”

Founded in 1967, Central Boat Rentals Inc. moves oil and gas for operators on the Gulf Coast.
