$45 Million Expansion Announced at Liebherr’s Newport News Facility

Liebherr International AG has announced a $45 million expansion at its facility in Newport News, Virginia. The expansion will include three new buildings on 28 acres, adjacent to the current manufacturing facility. Once completed the new facilities will total more than 251,000 square feet.

The added space will be used as the headquarters and administrative building, a production and workshop facility, and warehouse and distribution center. Construction should begin in July 2018 and be completed by the summer of 2020. Liebherr provides sales and service on behalf of eight different product units, construction equipment; mining; mobile and crawler cranes; tower cranes; concrete technology; foundation equipment; maritime cranes; and components and the appliances. The company opened in Newport News in 1970 and has since expanded to 13 other locations in the United States.
