Upper Mississippi Draft Master Plan Released

The St. Paul Engineer District released its draft Upper Mississippi River master plan and environmental assessment August 14 and is seeking public comments. The master plan encompasses the Upper Mississippi River from the Twin Cities to Lock and Dam 10 in Guttenberg, Iowa, embracing 13 locks and dams in total.

The Corps completed itsĀ first master plan for this area in 1948. Additional updates occurred in 1983 and 1988, as well as a 2011 land use allocation plan.

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, a final determination master planā€™s draft environmental assessment will be made following a 30-day public review period. A copy of the draft EA can be viewed and downloaded from the St. Paul District website at:Ā http://www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Home/Public-Notices/.
