Arkansas River Lock 3 Closes For Test
The Little Rock Engineer District planned to close Joe Hardin Lock No. 3 at Arkansas River Mile 52 on March 12. Between March 1 and March 11, boats transitioning the lock experienced intermittent delays lasting up to three hours at a time between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., as the lock cleaned and prepared for the centerpost pull test.Â
The lock was to close completely 6 a.m. March 12 through 6 p.m. March 20 for the test. In the event the work is finished early, the district said, the lock will open back up, and a revised Navigation Notice will be sent out.

From February 2 through February 6, the district closed the Arkansas River Norrell Lock and Dam (Lock No. 1), near Tichnor, Ark., to replace the lock interlock system.
