Kindra Lake Towing To Repower Tug Buckley

Kindra Lake Towing, Chicago, Ill., is repowering its tug Buckley with two Mitsubishi S12R-Y3MPTAW-4 Tier 3 diesel marine engines, each rated at 1,100 hp. The engines were supplied by Laborde Products.

“We are looking forward to the fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions that these new engines will bring,” said John Kindra, president. “Excitement is growing as we get closer to sea trials. The Laborde Products group has been easy to work with through this entire project.”

“We’re excited to be working on this project with the entire Kindra Lake team and adding the first pair of Mitsubishi engines to the Kindra Lake fleet,” said Trace Laborde, vice president of sales at Laborde Products.

The 89.9- by 26-foot mv. Buckley was built in 1958 by Parker Bros. Shipyard, Houston, Texas, for Brooks Liquid Transport Inc., and was originally named Linda Brooks. It was sold in 1967 to Calumet Marine Towing Corporation and renamed Eddie, and then was sold to Kindra Lake Towing in 1992 and renamed in 1995.
