MRC Schedules High–Water Inspection Trip

The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River, March 27–31. Public meetings will be held by the Mississippi River Commission onboard the mv. Mississippi as follows:

Cairo, Ill. City Front: 9 a.m.–12 p.m. March 27

Memphis, Tenn. Beal Street Landing: 9 a.m.–12 p.m. March 28

Greenville, Miss., City Front: 9 a.m.–12 p.m. March 29

New Orleans, La., New Orleans District dock: 9 a.m.–12 p.m. March 31. 

At this time, COVID safety protocols from recent trips formerly mandated by the Department of Defense are no longer in place. Further information may be provided on the district or commission websites or social media as the meeting dates get closer. All meetings will be open to the public with the agenda below:

1. Summary report by the president of the commission on national and regional issues affecting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and commission programs and projects on the Mississippi River and its tributaries.

2. District commander’s overview for the commission on current project issues in the respective area.

3. Presentations to the commission by local organizations and members of the public giving views or comments on any issue affecting the programs or projects of the commission and the Corps.

The commission will accept testimonies for the record until 5 p.m. on March 31.
