Munoz Plans To Retire From Turn Services

Turn Services recently announced the retirement of Mario Munoz, who will step down at the end of November. Having joined Turn Services after an extensive career in river transportation, Munoz took on the role as president in 2012 and was responsible for spearheading the company’s evolution and growth for 13 years. His retirement closes a chapter in a maritime career of more than 30 years.

“Choosing to retire from Turn Services was not an easy decision,” Munoz said. “It came after a great deal of thought and reflection. After nearly 30 years in this industry and 13 wonderful years with Turn, I know it’s the right time, but that doesn’t make it any less bittersweet. What I’ll miss most is the people and the incredible family we have at Turn and Associated. Our culture is truly one of a kind, built on teamwork, care and mutual respect.”

Todd Fuller, president of Associated Terminals, will serve as president of both Associated Terminals and Turn Services. He has served nearly 29 years with Associated Terminals and has worked closely with both Turn Services and Munoz for several years.

According to Turn Services, Munoz earned the respect of his colleagues through his operational expertise, approachable leadership style and dedication to developing people.

“Mario has been a cornerstone of our organization for more than a decade,” said Gary Poirrier, chairman of Associated Terminals and Turn Services. “During his tenure as president, Turn Services experienced tremendous growth, expanding geographically, investing in new equipment and technology and building a company culture centered on safety and excellence. We are deeply grateful for his steady leadership and the positive impact he has had on our people and our company.”

Munoz’s influence also spread beyond Turn Services. His leadership roles have included positions with the Maritime Transportation Council, American Waterways Operators, Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association, Waterways Council, Inc., Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau and the River Industry Executive Task Force.

“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, growing stronger, safer and more unified without ever compromising the values that define us,” Munoz said. “It’s been a privilege to lead such a dedicated team and to work alongside colleagues who inspire me every day. I’m confident in the future of Turn Services under Todd Fuller’s leadership and look forward to supporting a smooth and seamless transition.”

Munoz extended his gratitude to the teams at Turn Services and Associated Terminals, and he acknowledged Fuller, Poirrier, Kevin Tarleton and David Fennelly for their leadership, friendship and vision.

“I will always be Turn’s biggest cheerleader, and I’ll always carry this experience and the relationships we’ve built close to my heart,” Munoz said.
