First Pittsburgh COI Awarded To Mv. Quaker State

Bellaire Harbor Service LLC, Bellaire, Ohio, was awarded a Certificate of Inspection (COI) from the Coast Guard through the Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau (TVIB) for the mv. Quaker State on July 20, the day Subchapter M was officially implemented. This is the first COI issued in the Port of Pittsburgh and the third issued on the Ohio River.

The mv. Quaker State is an 850 hp. twin-screw towboat built by Yates Marine Construction, Glenwillard, Pa., in 1965. The 75- by 25-foot vessel has Cat D353 diesels, with Twin Disc reduction gears.

The towboat, which has been owned by various operators over the last 50 years, was bought by Bellaire Harbor Service in December 2016.
