C&B Marine Plans Fleeting Area Additions

C&B Marine LLC of Covington, Ky., plans to build two new fleeting areas at its existing barge fleeting area along the Ohio River near Hebron, Ky.

C&B currently is permitted to have a barge fleeting facility including three fleeting areas along the left bank at the Ohio River with a total of 126 barges. The application for a Department of the Army permit with the Louisville Engineer District calls for adding 72 barges at two new fleeting areas downstream of the existing fleeting areas.

The two new fleeting areas would have thirty-six 190- by 35-foot barges each, configured six barges wide and six barges long. The maximum riverward projection of either new fleeting area would be 288 feet from the ordinary high water elevation of 464.4 feet above mean sea level. If permitted, there would be a total of 198 barge fleeting spaces.

C&B proposes to construct twelve 30-inch-diameter, 80-foot-tall spuds at every other barge along the shoreline to secure the two new fleeting areas.
