Riverview Companies, a family-owned maritime services provider with roots along the Upper Mississippi River, is expanding to the Gulf Coast with the launch of Riverview Marine Repair in Morgan City, La., near the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.

The new facility is located at 1224 Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. Riverview Marine Repair features a 400-ton dry dock measuring 125 feet by 60 feet and a 250-ton Marine Travel Lift with a maximum beam of 35 feet. The shipyard is equipped to offer vessel repair and maintenance services to both inland and coastal operators.

“We’ve steadily increased our vessel presence in the Gulf, and it made sense for us to establish a permanent facility here,” said Jeremy Putman, president of Riverview Companies. “Our commitment to Subchapter M compliance and long-term fleet reliability aligns perfectly with this next step. Riverview Marine Repair allows us to provide timely, high-quality service to operators working the Gulf and beyond.”

The Riverview Companies started in 1998 with the opening of Riverview Boat Store in Bellevue, Iowa, a family operation that supplied groceries and provisions to towboats on the Upper Mississippi River. Over the next 20 years, the company grew, expanding both its fleet and the services it offered. Riverview Boat Store grew to operate custom-built refrigerated vans, with a focus on premium, restaurant-quality products and quality meats.

The company then expanded to include Riverview Tug Service, dedicated to towing and lock assists. The Riverview Tug Service fleet includes the mvs. Peggy Louise, Mrs. P and Jean Marie.

Earlier this year, Riverview Companies acquired the shipyard assets of LD Marine and rebranded the facility as Riverview Marine Repair, marking the company’s first major expansion beyond the Upper Mississippi.

“This expansion allows us to take the same reliability and service our customers trust upriver and bring it to the Gulf,” Putman said. “With Riverview Marine Repair, we are building the infrastructure and expertise needed to keep vessels operating safely and efficiently in one of the busiest maritime regions in the country.”

David Vicknair will oversee day-to-day operations of Riverview Marine Repair.
