Master Boat Builders recently launched Titan (H502), the third RApport 3000-class escort tug in a four-vessel series being built for Suderman & Young Towing Company.
The 98-foot tug has a molded beam of 43 feet and a bollard pull of more than 90 metric tons. Titan is powered by two engines producing a combined 7,000 hp. and can reach speeds of approximately 13 knots.
The vessel is designed to accommodate a crew of six and carries 44,342 gallons of fuel oil. It measures less than 300 gross register tonnage (GRT) and will be used for harbor, ship-assist and escort operations.
“Titan reflects the continued strength of our partnership with Suderman & Young and our team’s ability to deliver high-performance escort tugs that meet the needs of today’s harbor operations,” said Garrett Rice, president of Master Boat Builders. “We’re proud to launch the third vessel in this four-tug series and look forward to continuing this important program.”
The launch continues Master Boat Builders’ work on the four-tug series for Suderman & Young. The Texas-based towing company provides harbor tug and marine towing services along the Texas Gulf Coast, including the ports of Houston, Galveston, Texas City, Freeport and Corpus Christi.
Master Boat Builders, based in Coden, Ala., has built more than 460 vessels since its founding in 1979. Its portfolio includes tugboats, offshore supply vessels, fishing vessels and dive support vessels.
