Project Ideas Requested for the Louisiana Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast

The Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) is accepting project ideas for evaluation and possible inclusion in the Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast, which will be submitted to the Louisiana legislature in 2023.

CPRA is the state entity with the authority to develop, implement and enforce a comprehensive coastal master plan to reduce storm surge flood impact, restore natural resources, and build land to protect critical energy infrastructure.

Academia, parishes, elected officials, agencies, NGOs, landowners, business/industry, and citizens may all submit ideas. Emphasis should be on projects that factor in sea level rise, contribute to maintaining estuarine gradients in future decades, and provide storm-surge based risk reduction to a community or region. New project development program guidelines and criteria can be viewed here.

Proposals are due by March 1, 2019, delivered in pdf format to MasterPlan@la.gov or mailed to 2023 Coastal Master Plan Project Development Program, P.O. Box 44027, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70804. The proposals should include a cover sheet with contact information, up to three pages for project description, up to two pages for project attributes and one page for a map.

An informational webinar on the project solicitation will be held October 17. To register click here.
