WEDA Shifts Annual Dredging Summit To Virtual Format

The board of directors of the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) has announced the organization’s annual Dredging Summit & Expo, previously set to occur in person in Tampa Jun 15–17, will now be held virtually due to concerns related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“This decision was based upon several factors of which safety was paramount,” WEDA President Alan Alcorn and Executive Director Tom Cappellino said in a joint statement. “We are confident that going virtual this June is the only sensible path going forward to ensure the health and safety of all of our members and affiliates.”

The conference will be held via Zoom on the same dates, with technical and award presentations held between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. each day. Additional registration information is forthcoming.

WEDA is offering a number of options for delegates, exhibitors and sponsors who had already registered and submitted payments for the 2020 and 2021 in-person events, including carrying over reservations to 2022 or receiving a refund. Hotel reservations within the official WEDA hotel block have been canceled.

WEDA leaders announced the 2024 Dredging Summit & Expo will now be held in Tampa. The 2022 event will be held in Houston, while the site of the 2023 event is to be determined.
