Mobile District Announces Holt Lock Monolith Repair Schedule

The Mobile Engineer District released a notice to stakeholders of the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway (BWT) December 18 regarding upcoming repairs to Holt Lock, located at Mile 347 on the Black Warrior River, just above Tuscaloosa, Ala.

During repairs to a damaged lock monolith, starting January 12, 2026, Holt Lock will be periodically closed and operate under a modified schedule.

The lock will be closed to navigation from 6 a.m. Mondays to 6 a.m. Saturdays while permanent repairs are underway. The lock will be open to navigation on the weekends, from 6 a.m. Saturdays to 6 a.m. Mondays.

At present, the Mobile District expects the modified schedule to be in place until September 2026. Updates to the schedule and estimated return to normal operations will be announced in future public notices.
